Memories #21 to #28 | Skill #6
☆ Childhood trip to the beach. Significant Positive
What he remembered/learned:
He used to go to this island when he was a kid with his family. The memory is somewhat vague but there's a strong sense of being loved and that he had very good moments with his father and sister.
What this means:
Confusion because he knows that didn't last.
☆ "My search is about to come to an end" [Note: About honor, the basics and capturing the Avatar ↔ Episode 1x01 & 1x02] Significant Neutral
What he remembered/learned:
He finally sees a light that might be the Avatar. Iroh makes a point that his father, grandfather and great grandfather all tried to find the Avatar and they all failed, Zuko says that's because they honor didn't depend on it. He manages to capture him after kicking Sokka's ass, getting his ass kicked a bit and makes a deal with Aang to keep the Water Tribe village alone if he comes with him.
What this means:
Shame, to some degree, because sure he was a jerk. He also knows that, from the feelings in his memories, that he had no other choice since he was on the other side of a war.
☆ "Seeing the Avatar lately?" [Note: About using smoke as a cover and infiltrating temples ↔ Episode 1x08] Trivial Negative
What he remembered/learned:
Zuko finds the trail of the Avatar after he rescues Iroh from getting captured by Earth Kingdom soldiers. He finds out the Avatar is heading into the Fire Nation so he goes right after him, but his uncle tells Zuko it's a foolish idea because he was banished by the Fire Lord (his father). Aang gets into the Fire Nation with his friends and Zhao lets Zuko pass, too, so he can follow him. Zuko uses the smoke from his ship as a diversion and he sets off after Aang. He manages to capture him at the temple, but he gets away and gets inside the chamber of Avatar Roku and while waiting Zhao arrives and captures Zuko. When Aang gets out, he's being possessed by Avatar Roku, frees everyone and destroys the temple; Zuko uses that to escape. At the end, frustrated, he's seen still following Aang.
What this means:
Zhao sure wanted to capture him or kill him or both. He did go to extremes to try to capture Aang. HE USED TO HAVE EVEN LESS PATIENCE?! Somehow he doesn't get as angry all the time in Aather.
☆ "I'll get your son back" [Note: About being alone ↔ Episode 2x07] Significant Neutral
What he remembered/learned:
Zuko is alone in the Earth Kingdom for some reason, with the animal he stole from that family in that other memory. He hasn't eaten in a while and runs out of water, and he keeps picturing his mom in his head. He travels through a deserted area until he arrives at a very small town, where thugs are calling themselves Earth Kingdom soldiers to do whatever they want. Zuko sort of helps a kid from getting arrested and the kid takes him to his house as payment. There, he's invited to eat and ends up helping them do some repairs, despite trying to say he has to leave. Spends the night there and helps the kid train with the double swords. The next day, thugs come to bully the father about how their old son figting at the war is probably captured and dead. The father decides to go look for his son, Zuko leaves but he gives the kid the dagger Zuko's uncle gave him when he was younger (with a "never give up without a fight" inscription) and leaves. The mother goes after Zuko a while later asking for help, because the kid gets captured by the thugs and Zuko helps them but he ends up using firebending. He reveals his name and defeats them, but after that everyone hates him and they kick him out.
What this means:
People sure hate the Fire Nation and what he represents, but it's not surprising. Zuko will only be aware of all that and that it's impossible to make them change their mind.
⇒ Advanced firebending Special
What this means:
With this is firebending has reached the level he has at the end of canon. A lot of cool tricks, in general, but it mostly means his capacity has been increased.
☆ Azula trolling him when they were kids. Trivial Neutral
What he remembered/learned:
Azula used to make fun of him and generally troll him when they were kids. It's showed in the official comics that Zuko had nightmares where his room is burning down and Azula is there, laughing, so it's safe to say that in her attempts to control Zuko through fear, Azula bullied him and played tricks on him a lot.
What this means:
More awkward and mixed feelings when it comes to his sister.
☆ "Is the club meeting over?" [Note: About the Order of the White Lotus ↔ Episode 2x11] Trivial Neutral
What he remembered/learned:
- Zuko and Iroh are fugitives still and get attacked by Fire Nation bounty hunters.
- Zuko's accidentally gives Iroh an idea to look for old friends that wouldn't want to attack them.
- Iroh finds the Order of the White Lotus and Zuko is very impatient about it.
- They need to head to Ba Sing Se and hide like refugees.
- They sneak out with the Order of the White Lotus' help.
What this means:
His uncle has weird contacts and apparently Pai Sho is more serious than he thought?! Something like that. Also this explains why they headed to the Earth Kingdom capital.
☆ "Why can't I do it? Instead of lightning it keeps exploding in my face!" [Note: About storms and lightning ↔ Episode 2x09] Significant Negative
What he remembered/learned:
- "No. She's crazy and needs to go down" <- explanation of Azula from Iroh.
- Zuko asks his uncle to train him again so he can stand a chance against Azula and Iroh tries to teach him how to create and bend lightning, but Zuko fails.
- "Why can't I do it? Instead of lightning it keeps exploding in my face!"
- Uncle decides to teach him about the four elements and how to redirect lightning instead.
- Zuko gets angry when Iroh refuses to let him do a real practice and goes out in the middle of a storm to have FEELINGS!11 and cry at the rain because he wanted to be striken with lightning.
What this means:
This is going to shake him up a bit because it will confirm that his life is full of suck and that everything goes wrong all the time. Part of the turmoil inside him is gone but it's going to make him more negative sometimes.
☆ "I'm sorry" [Note: About storms ↔ Episode 1x12] Significant Neutral
PENDING
What he remembered/learned:
- Zuko is in his ship and going after the Avatar and argues with his uncle saying they need to keep going north despite Iroh saying there's a storm coming and should go southeast instead.
- CAPTURING THE AVATAR IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN THE SAFETY OF THE CREW!!1
- Iroh is right and Zuko's lieutenant says that Zuko has no respect for others and is a spoiled prince. Iroh stops them before they fight.
- The storm starts and it's HORRIBLE. They get hit by lightning and one of his men is in danger.
- Zuko rescues him.
- They see the Avatar fly in the middle of the storm and Zuko lets him escape, arguing they should get to safety.
- IROH IS SO PROUD and they head to the heart of the storm.
- Zuko apologizes to Iroh when they get to safety.
- Zuko sees Aang fly past them again and he does nothing.
What this means:
Feelings that he did things right sometimes. That he can do other things than just obsessing over getting his honor and everything back.
