Memories #17 to #20
☆ "I'm tired of living like this!" [Note: About dubious new friends ↔ Episode 2x12] Trivial Neutral
What he remembered/learned:
So THIS is how he met Jet. This memory contains more STEALING FOOD antics, being TIRED of his life as a refugee and Jet trying to recruit him. Zuko says that being alone isn't always the best path and Iroh tries to hint heavily at "NEPHEW IT'S OKAY TO HAVE A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE."
What this means:
A lot of appreciation for his uncle, on top of extreme frustration due to his situation that he will learn to deal with better in Aather thanks to knowing things changed later.
☆ Learning Firebending from his uncle. Trivial Neutral
What he remembered/learned:
A recollection of Zuko learning firebending from his uncle during those years he was looking for Aang before the first season started. It's only neutral instead of negative because it's implied heavily in canon that Iroh taught everything he knew to Zuko and he supposedly got a lot better during that time.
What this means:
SOME NEGATIVE FEELINGS IN GENERAL: missing home, wanting his honor back and for his father to take him back, but at the same time he will get more focus and will do his best to overcome everything no matter what.
☆ "My problems cannot be soaked away!" [Note: About kidnappings ↔ Episode 1x07] Trivial Pos
What he remembered/learned:
- That his uncle enjoys . . . doing things like that, but he has little patience for them.
- When he discovers that his uncle was captured by earthbenders, he follows the trail and at some point he sees Appa flying. However, he keeps following the trail instead of going after the Avatar.
- Frees his uncle.
What this means:
It mostly means that, as much as he's done horrible things in the past, he still could do what was more important to him at times. It's also a positive memory because he was able to rescue his uncle and it was nice to fight by his side.
☆"I know uncle. We'll meet again" [Note: About infiltrations ↔ Episode 1x19 & 1x20] Sig Neutral
What he remembered/learned:
- The Fire Nation attacks the Northern Water Tribe to make it fall.
- Admiral Zhao tried to kill Zuko. It doesn't happen in this memory, but he's hurt enough for it to be fairly recent. He infiltrates the ship he's on and manages to remain unnoticed.
- Iroh tells him to be careful before he leaves and he tells Zuko he sees him as a son.
- They're at the North Pole and Zuko actually manages to capture Aang. He fights Katara until he defeats her. However, they end up in a cave in the middle of a blizzard. Katara and Sokka go to rescue Aang, but Aang doesn't let them leave Zuko unconscious so they drag him along.
- Zuko's father said that Azula was born lucky, while he was lucky to be born.
- After failing to capture the Avatar, Zuko goes after Zhao in the middle of the confusion to fight him. He wins, but they're interrupted by the spirits that come to take Zhao away for killing the spirit of the Moon. Zuko tries to help him, but Zhao refused to get it. :'D
- At the end, Zuko leaves with Iroh and confesses to be tired. Not wanting to go after Aang.
What this means:
This memory will give him some guilt, because as much as he was fighting Zhao he didn't want him to die and also that he fought and hurt Katara. He has more reminders that his father didn't seem to care much for him, but he has his uncle and that's something Zuko is fairly aware in Aather. In general, it's a very intense memory but Zuko's feelings and issues remain more or less the same.
